January 10, 2021

Happy Sunday! If you are a football fan, I hope you enjoyed Wildcard Weekend … arguably the best weekend of the season. If you’re a Seahawks fan … I feel your pain. We have a busy week ahead so here is the information you’ll need.

New Information To Share

Kindergarten Registration: For those children born in 2016, Kindergarten registration begins at 9:00am on Monday January 18th and runs until Wednesday March 31st at 3:00pm. You are able to submit your registration forms at any time during that period to secure your spot for the upcoming school year (provided there is room). This year, due to COVID 19, parents will be able to register in person or online. You can click here to access the information on our school website as well as the required documents and registration form. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Lipp in the office (604-513-8000 or llipp@sd35.bc.ca)

Visitor Health Check Now Online: Effective Monday, January 11th, Dorothy Peacock will be moving to an online health check for any visitors to our school. While we are still discouraging parents from coming to the school, if you have a necessary appointment with a staff member, etc we ask that you scan the QR code in the front entry and complete the information required, sanitize hands and wear a mask prior to proceeding.

Family Culture Day: Jan 22 is ‘Family Culture Day’. On this spirit day, wear something that represents your family traditions or culture. Please do not send weapons of any kind.

Information From Last Week

Daily Health Check: As we continue during these COVID times, a reminder to please be sure to complete the daily health check for your own children prior to sending them to school. If they have any of the symptoms (click here for list), we ask that you please keep them home.

Toys At School: We know that many students got some new toys from Santa for Christmas but we want to remind parents that we are not allowing any toys from home at school during COVID. Please be sure they remain at home.

Pick Up/Drop Off: A reminder to parents that we appreciate your continued efforts to wear masks while you are dropping off and picking up your children. As a community, we will continue to work at keeping our students and staff safe. Also, please be sure to come as close to the bell as possible in the morning and then leave the school as soon as possible afterwards.

Kindergarten Registration: Kindergarten registration across the Langley School District runs January 18 – March 31, 2021. If your child will be five years old by December 31, 2021, you will be able to register through your neighbourhood school. Due to COVID-19 health and safety guidelines, the process for registration and collecting documents may be different this time. For information on what documents you need and instructions on how to register, please visit the District webpage here: https://bit.ly/3ajqfNF

Microsoft TEAMS Chat Guidelines: As we continue to have more and more classes using the TEAMS platform to enhance learning opportunities, it is useful for parents and students to understand the district guidelines for use of the digital tool. While we always strive for overall digital citizenship from our students, please click here to see the specific guidelines related to MS Teams chat.
