February 27, 2022

Happy Sunday! Hopefully you all had a restful weekend. They go so quickly. We have two more weeks until Spring Break but lots going on. Please be sure to read through the information below.

New Information To Share

No School For Students On Wednesday: Just a reminder that there is no school for students on Wednesday to accommodate our Student Inclusive Conferences.

Student Inclusive Conferences: We are so excited to be starting out student inclusive conferences this week! It is a great time to celebrate the learning that has happened so far and set collaborative goals for the final stretch of the school year. A reminder to please come with your Family Conference Refection Form (click here) completed. If you have not yet made an appointment, please contact your child’s teacher directly or Mrs Lipp (llipp@sd35.bc.ca)

Scholastic Book Fair: We are excited to be hosting a Scholastic Virtual Book Fair from Monday, February 21st to Wednesday, March 2nd.  The Virtual Book Fair is a fantastic way to continue to give our students access to the books they want to read. We’re excited that you will be able to shop together, selecting the books that inspire your readers, from the comfort of home. All purchases benefit our school and earn Rewards that can be redeemed for books and Education Resources for our school library.

When it’s time to shop, visit our school’s Virtual Book Fair site using this link:

Before our Fair begins, click the above link to:

  • SAVE it to your browser
  • WATCH videos of popular new titles
  • PREVIEW our Featured Books

Orders will be individually packaged and mailed to the school free of charge. For ease of pick-up, you can put the order under your child’s name (add division number) and the package will be sent home with said child.  We are excited to have you be a part of our Scholastic Virtual Book Fair! Please contact Ms Chui (mchui@sd35.bc.ca) if you have any questions.

Information From Last Week

Kindergarten Registration: Just a reminder to families that if you or someone you know has a child born in 2017, it is time to register them for Kindergarten at Dorothy Peacock. If you live in our catchment area, you must register by March 31st to ensure a spot at our school. You can contact Mrs Lipp (llipp@sd35.bc.ca) if you have any questions.

Celebrating Family Day: I hope everyone had a wonderful Family Day weekend. It is a great time to focus on those important values of connection among those closest to you. As you know, our staff has shifted our focus to celebrating Family Day and away from Mother’s/Father’s Day. This allows us to be more inclusive of the different family units that exist in our community such as single parent, same sex parents, extended family acting as the primary care-giver, children in care, etc. It also frees up instructional time for our teachers to focus on the learning gaps we’re seeing as a result of COVID 19. We know parents enjoy the projects that have traditionally come home however we want to focus on literacy and numeracy learning.
