April 24, 2022

Happy Sunday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! The sun certainly felt nice … especially because it came with some warmth. We have a busy week ahead. Here’s what you need to know.

New Information To Share

District And School Calendars: Please see the two links below for our district and school calendar for upcoming year. We will add these dates and other school specific dates to our DPE Calendar prior to September.

District Calendar 2022-23

School Calendar – Dorothy Peacock 2022-23

Class Placement Requests: Each year, we invite parents who wish to make a request for their child to do so. We want to remind parents that requests need to be based on the educational needs of their child. All requests MUST come in written form directly to Mr Davids to be considered. While you may speak directly with your child’s current teacher, we need all requests to come through administration. We also want to let parents know that there is no guarantee a request will be met as there are many factors that dictate class placements. Please have these to Mr Davids no later than Friday May 20th. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact us.

Parking Lot Safety: As the weather gets better, we will have more students and families walking to and from school. A reminder to please use all sidewalks and cross walks in and around the school. And to those travelling by car, please be sure to slow down and use the designated pick up and drop off areas.

Student Learning Survey: This is our last week for the Ministry of Education Student Learning Survey. This questionnaire provides valuable feedback to the district and our school specifically about what we are doing well and where we can improve. Please take a moment to complete it … you can access it if you click here.

WGSS Regional Track Meet: As parents are looking ahead at their own calendars, we wanted to let you know that the Walnut Grove Regional Track Meet has been set for Friday May 27th at the high school. Parents of athletes are welcome to come and cheer on Peacock Nation! Those competing will be determined in the coming weeks.
